Literary works are creative written pieces that express ideas, emotions, stories, or experiences through writing.
Easter is a period that reminds us that there was once a time people went through the most excruciating form of torture to be executed. Let me tell you something I have gathered so far about this form of execution!
The death of Jesus Christ is one of the most important events in Christianity. According to the bible, Jesus was arrested, tried, and sentenced to death by crucifixion under the Roman governor Pontius Pilate. Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross at Golgotha. Jesus Christ was innocent, but he willingly accepted all sufferings. Jesus death was a sacrifice for the sins of humanity. This very day is what Christians call the “GOOD FRIDAY”. On this day, Christians, most especially the Catholics do not eat “meat”. The death of Jesus on the cross of Calvary represents Sacrifice, Love and Forgiveness.
Easter is one of the most important celebrations in the Christian faith. It is a time when Christians all over the world remember and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. This event is believed to have happened three days after His crucifixion, which is remembered on Good Friday .
It’s Good Friday and christians all over the world are currently focused on commemorating the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus Christ, which brought redemption to the world. It is a solemn feast dating back as early as the 3rd century by the earliest Christian communities, which was known initially as “The Day of the Lord’s Passion”. Even early texts like the Didache and writings of Church Fathers show that fasting on Friday was a weekly practice tied to the crucifixion.
The level/rate of Insecurity in Nigeria is ridiculously high, and this saddens our heart. Our country which used to be a very peaceful place , suddenly started bleeding in 2010 and as time goes by, the rate of insecurity keeps getting worse. It all started in 2010, when BokoHaram kidnapped Chibok school girls and up till today, some of the girls haven’t been released from the captivity of those terrorist.
A very powerful quote by Mark Caine states: “The first step towards success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment you find yourself in”. This quote says a lot. The Law of the Environment means that the kind of environment you live in has a strong influence on your life. It affects how you think, how you behave and even what you become in the future. In simple terms, your surroundings help shape you.
Self-respect basically means valuing yourself. It’s all about you recognizing your own worth and treating yourself with kindness and consideration. It also involves setting boundaries, taking care of your physical and mental health, and standing up for your beliefs. When you have self-respect, you make choices that align with your values and promote your wellbeing.
I have sat down, played it piece by piece but yet it refuses to make sense to me. Maybe it wasn’t supposed to make sense! A student read for an exam, entered the hall, signed an attendance and wrote an exam. Fast forward to Three months later, he/she is told that your script is missing!
Have you heard of placebo and nocebe effects before? As a medical practitioner in training, I was taught that some treatment procedures were meant to deliver placebo or nocebe effects only to the brain. For drugs and treatment in this category, there is usually no active chemical or bioelectrical ingredients but because it was expected to be present, your brain can trigger real and measurable physiological changes when administered.
Greed is an excessive desire to have more than what you need, especially when it comes to money, power, or possessions. While wanting to improve one’s life is natural and even healthy, greed goes beyond this. It becomes a harmful craving that can control a person’s thoughts and actions. Greed can be compared to a disease because it slowly damages the person and affects others around them.
Hmmm, at this point, I feel so weak at the high rate of poverty in Nigeria. It has gotten to the point where you’ll see people you don’t even know, send DMs to you on social media, begging you for financial assistance so they can be able to feed. Unknown to them that alot of people are going through one or two.
The Law of the Mirror is a simple idea that helps us understand ourselves better by looking at how we react to other people. Just like a physical mirror shows us our face, this law says that other people can act like a mirror reflecting what is inside us(our thoughts, feelings, strengths, and even our weaknesses).
The Law of Awareness is a simple but powerful idea: you cannot change what you are not aware of . In other words, before you can improve any part of your life, you must first notice and understand it.
Many people believe that the only time they can celebrate themselves is on their birthday. Birthdays are seen and known as special days meant for happiness, gifts, and appreciation. While birthdays are important, it is not nice to wait until that one day before you recognize your worth, your growth, and your achievements.
The “Law of the Rubber Band” is not a scientific law you learn in physics, but a simple idea that was made very popular by a speaker Jim Rohn that teaches an important lesson about growth in life. It teaches that growth only happens when we stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zones. Just like a rubber band is useful only when it is stretched, a person also becomes better when they challenge themselves.
Hello guys! Lately, I have been skimming through some psychological phenomena that actually makes sense if you think about –not that they never made sense anyway. Today, I came with some fun tricks that you’ll love to know, just like I did.
You probably must have heard every motivator talk about self-awareness and how it can be a game-changer but no one talks about what happens next. Ask yourself this: How do you think? How do you study things around you? How do you show up for what matters? These are the things that you should consider after becoming self-aware. Here are the questions that will push you to do things differently;
In recent years, so many people have started to feel that the world is becoming colder, harsher, and less compassionate. The act of kindness now feels rare, while cruelty and selfishness are increasing. Lately, when you converse with some people, you’ll feel they have gradually begun to loss their humanity. Humanity is not just about being human by birth, humanity means showing empathy, kindness, patience, and respect towards other people. When people start to lose these qualities, the society begins to feel less safe and caring.
Everyone loves associating with smart people – at least people who appear to be so. From companies, to organizations and associations looking for representatives, ambassadors and frontline interactors, sounding smart and over-educated has become essential criteria for standing in such position. So, take a look at how you're going to become dangerously overeducated.
Who is Wole Soyinka? Wole Soyinka is a Nigerian playwright, critic, and Nobel Laureate. While I was an undergraduate in the University as an Art student, we were made to understand that Tragedy has been an important part of Dramatic literature, especially in Western tradition where it is often related with the works of the Greek playwrights such as Sophocles, Aeschylus and Euripides. We have the classical tragedy where the focus is usually on a great hero who falls due to fate, personal weakness or a tragic flaw.
I visited my family home and i had to run an errand in another part of town, when I was done, a sudden sense of nostalgia struck me. As a teenager, i had been to this part of town multiple times and figured out a shortcut i could take back home. As a teenager, I wanted to save every 100 naira or 200 naira, so in order to avoid taking a cab i would pass that shortcut.
Even when our wallets are tight and we’ve sworn that we wouldn’t spend unnecessarily, we somehow still end up with items that sit in our closets, gather dust, or maybe disappear into a “maybe i’ll use it later” file. This is not just a lack of will power, it is a mix of psychology, marketing, and societal pressure. Brands and advertisers are good at triggering emotional responses. You see advertisements like “Limited time offers”, “only a few left in stock”; these flashy ads make us feel urgency and give us the fear of missing out. Products we didn’t know we wanted suddenly appear important.
